Show Notes

Get ready, because on today’s show all roads lead back to Austin, Texas where I have the pleasure of chopping it with Donell Creech, founding president of Griot Media which is the parent organizer of Soul Food Truck Fest. In episode 8 with Deundre Zachary, the owner Ragin Cajun Louisiana Kitchen Food Truck, we discussed some of the barriers that exist for food truck owners of color, especially African Americans. Today, you get to listen to someone whose food truck festival is geared specifically towards Black-owner food trucks. But let’s be clear, these trucks represent the Black experience from across the diaspora and soul food in different variations. Whether it’s soul food from the Deep South, Jamaican soul dishes or vegan soul food, Austin’s Soul Food Truck Fest is an event you don’t want to miss! It’s happening this fall on October 26 and if you’re a vendor or foodie trying to get involved, This is the guy to contact. Today we’re discussing how the festival came out, benefits of registering, hbcus partnerships, and tips for food truck owners that are new to festivals.

Over the past 5 years, I’ve  learned a lot about what makes a good food truck stand out among the rest. I took 8 of those key concepts and created a book where I could have curbside conversations with each of you about them. This book  is not only digestible and not designed to overwhelm you, but also propels you into action. You can purchase Before You Launch A Food Truck TODAY at TheFoodTruckScholar.com/shop in paperback and ebook format as well as on Amazon.
